Job Summary

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service is seeking Applications Analysts to fill positions within the Operational Data Analysis Centre. The Applications Analyst is responsible for the development, integration, support and maintenance of ODAC applications.

This is an interesting and exciting opportunity for a person with an application development background to work with a diverse group of individuals in support of an evolving data analytics program. The ODAC offers diversity of experience, challenging projects, and modern analysis tools. The Applications Analyst will help develop and integrate analytical capabilities to assist the Data Exploitation Analysts in their mandate to resolve complex operational intelligence challenges.

Some of the major responsibilities of the Applications Analyst are as follows:

• contribute to the design and development of ODAC systems and tactical tools
• work closely with Database Administrators to analyse, transform, optimize and access data residing in an enterprise data warehouse and in ad hoc databases
• support system users, perform problem resolution and implement functional enhancements
• research and evaluate the latest advances in the fields of data mining, analysis and visualization tools

Education

Undergraduate degree in a related field (eg. Computer Science) and a minimum of four (4) years of experience or, a three (3) year Community college diploma in a related field (eg. Computer Science) and five (5) years of related experience.

Experience

Demonstrated experience developing applications and manipulating large data sets using SQL language.

Desirable requirements

• Experience using Visual Studio.NET and/or Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience performing data conversions and applying Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) principles
• Experience working with entity extraction software and/or geo-spatial analysis software and/or data management tools and/or other visual analytics systems

Security Requirements

Candidates must have no criminal record, be drug-free and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. This process involves a security interview, a background investigation that includes credit and financial verifications, as well as a polygraph examination.

Salary Range

$69,720 to $84,840. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
